What to see and do in Nerja — Guide from the Hotel Nerja Club

Nerja is a municipality on the eastern Costa del Sol, in the province of Malaga, known for its crystal-clear water beaches, cliffs, the Balcony of Europe, and the Nerja Caves. From the Hotel Nerja Club, you can reach the town center on foot (1 km) and the main points of interest by car in less than 10 minutes.

Nerja Caves

The Nerja Caves are one of the most important rock art sites in southern Spain. They are located 4 km from the hotel. The walking tour through the galleries lasts approximately one hour. It is recommended to book the entrance in advance in high season (July and August). In summer, music concerts are held inside the caves.

Balcony of Europe

The Balcony of Europe is the most emblematic viewpoint in Nerja, with panoramic views of the Mediterranean. It is in the center of town, 1 km from the hotel. On both sides of the viewpoint, you can access the small and sheltered beaches of Calahonda and El Salón.

Burriana Beach

It is the largest and liveliest beach in Nerja, with 800 meters of sand, beach bars, kayak rentals, and water activities. It is located 500 meters from the hotel. It has a blue flag and is family-friendly.

Maro-Cerro Gordo Natural Area

6 km from the hotel, this protected natural area includes some of the wildest beaches on the Costa del Sol: Maro Beach, Maro Cove, and El Molino. There are no large infrastructures, which makes them especially quiet outside of the weekend.

How to get to Nerja from Malaga Airport

Malaga Airport (AGP) is 55 km from the Hotel Nerja Club. By car, the journey takes approximately 40 minutes via the A-7. There is also a direct bus service from the airport to Nerja (line M-163). The hotel can manage an on-demand taxi service.

What is the best time to visit Nerja?

May, June, and September are the months with the best combination of climate, prices, and influx. July and August are the months of highest occupancy and heat. From October to April, Nerja maintains a mild climate (15-20°C on average) and the tranquility of low-season tourism, especially valued by travelers from the British and Central European market who visit the area outside the summer season.
